'Sandwich Brigade' Works to Feed Harrison Families

HARRISON, N.Y. - Parsons Elementary School's students hosted an annual "sandwich brigade" this month to donate food to local families. Sandwiches were crafted from donated jars of peanut butter and jelly and bread, courtesy of families in the Parsons community, the school said.

Students donated their time during recess and parent volunteers helped assemble over 400 sandwiches by the day's end, the school district said. As part of the brigade, students separated into pairs. While one worked on the jelly side of the sandwich, the other spread the peanut butter to expedite the process.
