This is the second consecutive year that Regeneron has won the top spot in the  Science magazine survey.

"As we are a company founded on scientific excellence, it is very meaningful to us to be recognized by Science magazine two consecutive years now as the top place to work in the industry," said Chief Scientific Officer and President George D. Yancopoulos. "Since we opened our first lab in 1989, we have believed that innovative science could be harnessed to deliver important new medicines for serious conditions.

"As we have grown from a handful of people to nearly 1,900 employees today, we have worked hard to maintain a culture that values rigorous science, creative thinking, and collegiality," Yancopouos said. "We are fortunate to have such talented employees who are dedicated to discovering and developing new treatments for patients in need."

The 2013 Science survey sought to identify the companies with the best reputations as employers, based on 3,656 survey responses from readers of Science. Survey participants came from North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific Rim.

New York State Lt. Governor Robert Duffy and U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey and other public officials recognized Regeneron's employees in Tarrytown last week.

"Regeneron is an amazing company," Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said. "They currently employee 1,500 employees at the Landmark in Greenburgh. They have helped to put Greenburgh on the map, and they keep expanding, creating more jobs. They have helped increase property values because scientists and their employees are interested in purchasing homes in Greenburgh."

Feiner added that the company has made the community a bio tech center.

"I was approached by a representative of another bio tech company at the Regeneron groundbreaking ceremonies," Feiner said. "They hope to build another lab at the Greenburgh portion of the Landmark campus in 2014. Regeneron’s success has helped us market other parts of the Landmark and the Ardsley bio tech campus to other bio tech companies, which is terrific."

Regeneron recently announced another step to reinforce its commitment to science by launching a new post-doctoral training program that is accepting applications for its 2013 class.  The three-year multi-faceted program will integrate cutting edge science with didactic training, discussion groups, and focused mentoring.

In June, Regeneron announced the first recipients of its own Regeneron Prize for Creative Innovation, a new initiative designed to acknowledge, reward, and foster talented early-career scientists. The award of a Postdoctoral Fellow went to Chuan Wu of Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard University and for Creative Innovation by a Graduate Student to Cody Gilleland of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
