Shakespeare Revived in Purchase Theater Production

PURCHASE, N.Y. - The ins and outs of romance will be at the forefront, just in time for Valentine's Day, as Purchase College's Repertory Theater works on the final touches of the "Love's Fire" production.

Director of the college's conservatory of theater arts, Greg Taylor said the show will feature the perfect combination of talent.

"The plays are fascinating, but not only for taking a contemporary look at classic material," Taylor said. "They are also extremely diverse in their presentation of love and relationships.”

"Love's Fire" will include a whirlwind of various love twists through different short plays by Shakespeare-inspired, award-winning playwrights including Eric Bogosian, William Finn, John Guare, Tony Kushner, Marsha Norman, Ntozake Shange, and Wendy Wasserstein.

The Purchase College School of the Arts-Conservatory of Theatre Arts has produced various theatre professionals through its' touted "immersive" four-year program, Taylor said, when describing the conservatory's program. “Students at the Purchase Conservatory of Theatre Arts work collaboratively on theatrical productions as a significant part of their formal education here,” Taylor said. “Most of our students go on to lifelong professional careers in theatre, and their training is designed to get them on that path.”

The show will run at the school's Performing Arts Center on Feb. 10 at 8 p.m., Feb. 11 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Feb 12. at 2 p.m., Feb. 16-17 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Those seeking more information or to order tickets can call (914) 251-6200.
