The event will be held at noon at My Sisters’ Place in White Plains.
Oct. 1 marks the beginning of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Lowey will be joined by representatives from My Sisters’ Place, Inc., Westchester Hispanic Coalition, Pace Women’s Justice Center, Hope’s Door, the City of White Plains, YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester, the Westchester County Office for Women, the Greenburgh Police Department and the Victim’s Assistance Center of WestCOP to call greater attention to the need for assistance for victims of violence against women.
These organizations will speak firsthand about the support victims require to bring their assailants to justice and to protect themselves and their families.
