Vehicle Engulfed in Flames on I-95 in Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. - A four-door automobile caught fire Thursday afternoon while traveling northbound on Interstate 95 on the back of a truck, the Harrison Fire Department said. The driver of the truck dumped the car on the side of the road when he noticed the flames and waited for officials near the scene.

The driver noticed the fire close to 1:30 p.m. Thursday and pulled off the interstate to detach the vehicle, fire officials said. No one was inside the burning car and no one was injured.

The cause of the fire was unknown.

The fire closed two lanes on the interstate while the HFD tended to the flames. Officers from the Harrison Police Department were also on the scene helping to direct traffic.
