West Harrison Fire Truck Burns in Nyack

NYACK, N.Y. - A West Harrison fire truck caught fire Tuesday afternoon near Route 9W at the intersection of Birchwood Avenue and Midland Avenue.

The blaze began around 3:45 p.m. when the truck was undergoing maintenance in Nyack by Ruscon Truck Service in Congers, officials said. There were no reported injuries.

Roughly 25 Nyack firefighters responded to the scene and were working heavily on the engine's flames until close to 4 p.m. Firefighters said burning fuel was leaking from the truck and gasoline ran down the surrounding road.

The extent of the damages was unknown. Fire Chief Jim Petriello said a fire engine usually costs close to $500,000.
