HARRISON, N.Y. -- The University at Albany is recognizing Daniel Maldonado of West Harrison as one of its 2013 Multicultural High School Achievers.

The university is recognizing 227 outstanding high school seniors from the greater Capital District and beyond as recipients of the awards.

Students are selected for exemplary academic performance and leadership in their schools and communities. They will be honored at a special event on Saturday.

Now in its 26th year, the Multicultural High School Achievers program has recognized more than 4,800 students of varying ethnic backgrounds.
