Harrison Resident Wins Volunteer New York! Legacy Award

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. -- The annual Volunteer Spirit Awards were held recently at the Westchester Marriott Hotel, as eight local companies and people were celebrated by Volunteer New York!

The ceremony celebrates the spirit of volunteerism in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.

This year's honorees were The Westchester Clubmen, Sven Hoeger, Alison Bergman, Jacqueline Cassagnol, RN, MSN, PMC, The Sister-in-Law Accompaniment Program of My Sisters’ Place, Linking Handlebars, Sandra Goldstein Lehnert and Markham F. Rollins.

“Once a year these awards bring our volunteer, non-profit, and for-profit partners closer together, while highlighting how important service is to keeping Westchester and the surrounding areas strong and resilient,” Alisa H. Kesten, executive director of Volunteer New York!, said in a statement.

Rollins, a Harrison resident, was presented with the Legacy Award for his ongoing work in trying to get local businesses to create and expand volunteer programs.

“Mark is a special, caring individual in our community who exemplifies what volunteering and giving means,” said William M. Mooney, Jr., chair of the VSA Benefit Committee and chief executive officer of the Westchester County Association, said in a statement.

The ceremony celebrates the spirit of volunteerism in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.
