What's Happening in Harrison This Week

A meeting of the Board of Education at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, at Louis M. Klein Middle School highlights the week ahead in Harrison. Here’s a list of events:

Monday, March 19

  • Tutors will be available from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Harrison Public Library to provide academic help to students. 
  • Friends of the Library will give patrons the opportunity to play board games from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Harrison Public Library.

Tuesday, March 20

  • Manhattanville College will host an opening reception for its Sustainable Art Exhibit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Artists include Elizabeth Demaray, Michelle Brody, Tattfoo Tann, Brandon Ballengee and Katrin Spiess.

Wednesday, March 21

  • Parsons Memorial School will hold a beginners' debut concert for parents at 10 a.m. 
  • The Harrison Public Library will host Circle Time for Tots from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is for children ages 1 to 3. Siblings are welcome. 
  • All elementary schools will have an early dismissal at 11:15 a.m. for a parent/teacher conference day. 
  • The Harrison Public Library will host Mad Science from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The show involves safe scientific fun with fire and ice. The event is sponsored by  Friends of the Library. 
  • Susan and Art Zuckerman will present a lecture titled “Nostalgic New York” from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Harrison Public Library. The lecture will explore New York in the 1950s and 1960s. 
  • The Board of Education will meet at 7:15 p.m. at Louis M. Klein Middle School.

Thursday, March 22

  • All elementary schools will have an early dismissal at 11:15 a.m. for a parent/teacher conference day. 
  • The Harrison Central School District will host a staff appreciation luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Harrison Avenue School.  
  • Manhattanville College will host its annual Job and Internship Fair. Employers in various industries, including business, education, nonprofit, entertainment and health care, will be on campus to recruit recent undergraduates, graduate students and alumni for internships and full-time jobs. 
  • Harrison High School will host a musical performance at 7 p.m.

Friday, March 23

  • This is the last day for late registration for high school students planning to take the ACT exam. 
  • Harrison High School will host a musical performance at 7 p.m. 
  • SUNY Purchase will hold an art talk from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Neuberger Museum of Art. The event will feature SUNY Purchase Lecturer Suzanne Ironbiter as she explore the work of Kiki Smith. A question-and-answer period with the artist will follow. Admission is free.
