Each Best Friends pet care center has an Animal Angel Tree in its lobby decorated with paper ornaments featuring photos and information about needy dogs and cats. Next to the tree is a wish list of items needed by the shelters for the animals in its care.

Pet lovers are invited to fill those wishes by donating the items, or making a cash contribution to the campaign. Only new, unused items will be accepted.

“Since the Angel Tree program began in 2000, we’ve collected hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of food, toys and pet care supplies for more than 100 different shelters and rescues across the U.S.,” Robin Williams, director of marketing for Best Friends said in a statement. “More than 60 shelter and rescue organizations are participating in this year’s program and we know our Angel Tree program will make a difference for many pets in need.”
