HARRISON, N.Y. – The woman widowed in a recent Harrison murder-suicide that killed a recently retired White Plains police officer and his two teenage daughters will receive a death benefit that could near $500,000, according to lohud.com.

Glen Hochman, 52, shot and killed his two daughters – Alissa, 18, and Deanna, 13 - the three family dogs, wrote a five-page suicide note on his computer, then fatally turned the gun on himself.

Glen Hochman had filed papers 10 days before the Feb. 21 shootings that would have removed Anamarie DiPietro-Hochman as his retirement plan’s beneficiary, according to lohud.com.

But state and local officials had not had time to process the paperwork, and in light of the recent tragedy opted to grant Hochman’s widow the benefits rather than risk a prolonged legal battle, lohud.com reported.

The funds, plus the attached health insurance plan, will be for not only DiPietro-Hochman’s benefit, but also to help her surviving 22-year-old daughter Samantha, according to lohud.com.

Both women were out of town the day of the shootings.

More than 1,000 people attended the funeral mass recently held for Alissa and Deanna Hochman .
