The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch that starts at 7 p.m. Sunday, shortly after the Super Bowl kicks off, and lasts through Monday at 6 p.m.

Steady snow is expected to start sometime after 10 p.m. Sunday with accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible overnight.

The snow will turn to a mixed bag of precipitation, especially south of I-287 on Monday, including freezing rain and sleet before noon before likely returning to snow sometime around 3 p.m. with another 3 to 5 inches possible on Groundhog Day.

Total snow accumulation of between 6 to 10 inches is possible in areas farther south and as much as 8 to 12 inches in Northern Westchester and Putnam.

Sunday's high temperature will be between 29 and 31 degrees. But frigid temperatures will return later in the day Monday, falling into the teens by the late afternoon.

The outlook for Tuesday is mostly cloudy and cold with a high between 16 and 18.
