Woman Hits Tree in Harrison, Charged With DWI

HARRISON, N.Y. - New Rochelle's Irene Khechinashvili, 22, was arrested early Sunday morning by Harrison police and charged with driving while intoxicated after driving her car into a tree, police said.

There was one passenger in the car, police said, and no injuries were reported.

According to police reports, Khechinashvili said she was trying to avoid hitting a car in front of her and swerved into a tree near 2900 Purchase St. at 2:59 a.m. Sunday. Manhattanville College Police dispatched Harrison police to the scene.

Harrison Police Officer John A. McGowan said he smelled alcohol on Khechinashvili's breath and noticed her swaying as she stood.

Khechinashvili admitted to drinking alcohol before driving and failed police-administered sobriety tests. She was later found to have a blood alcohol content of .15.

Khechinashvili was arrested and charged with DWI and later released on $250 cash bail.
