Murphy, the Republican nominee and a Yorktown Councilman, made his dislike of the education initiative known in a recent interview with Daily Voice at his campaign office in Yorktown.

“I live, breathe and eat it every night at my dinner table,” he said.

The candidate recalled the experience that his 11-year-old daughter has gone through, noting that an hour's worth is now three to four hours.

Murphy also spoke critically of standardized testing in general.

“One size fits all does not belong in the educational system,” he said.

Murphy is running against Democratic candidate and Croton-On-Hudson resident Justin Wagner for the 40th Senate District seat, which is currently held by Patterson Republican Greg Ball.

The 40th Senate District includes most of Northern Westchester, eastern Putnam and a small portion of Dutchess.
