HARRISON, N.Y. -- Carmela Castellano, a West Harrison resident, died Sunday, May 24, at the age of 87.
She was born Dec. 26, 1927, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy to Gaetano and Elisabetta D'Antona. She immigrated to the United States in 1958.
Castellano worked as a nurses aide at New York Hospital, retiring in 1996, and was a devoted pa of St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison.
She is survived by a son, Carmine Castellano of Valhalla, four grandchildren; Caryn, Allyson, Kathryn and Devin and five great-grandchildren.
Castellano was predeceased by her husband, Almerindo Castellano, a son,Thomas Castellano and her brother Pasquale D'Antona.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. ,Wednesday, at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 85 Harrison St, West Harrison. Interment wil follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
