HARRISON, N.Y. – Francesco Ferraro of Harrison died Oct. 11. He was 91.
Born Feb. 4, 1921, in Malvito, Cosenza, Italy, he was a son of Giuseppe “Peppino” and Aquilina Gualano Ferraro. He served in the Italian Army during World War II and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960.
In 1962, his wife and children also immigrated to the U.S. A landscaper, Ferraro worked as a groundskeeper at Saxon Woods Golf Course in Scarsdale and later went on to run his own landscaping business until the age of 90.
Ferraro is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva Laise Ferraro; four sons, Joseph, Mario, Vincent (Teresa) and Armando Ferraro; three daughters, Aquilina (Frank) LeDonne, AnnaMaria (Vincent) Caldarola and Lisa (Nicholas) Marinaccio; two brothers, Dominick (Josephine) and Remo (Beatrice) Ferraro; a sister, Teresa; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Monday at St. Gregory's Church in Harrison. Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home handled arrangements.
