Hugh Kenneth Magee, 93, Of West Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Hugh Kenneth Magee, a resident of West Harrison, died Sunday, Nov. 1, at the age of 93. 

Magee was born July 21, 1922, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to the late Isabella (Stewart) and Hugh Magee. He moved to America with his parents and brother Leslie (predeceased). 

After graduating from White Plains High School in 1941, he briefly worked for the Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. before serving during World War II. He entered the U.S. Army in 1942 and was highly decorated as he served in Europe and the Pacific. After his honorable discharge in 1946, he married Alice ("Jean") Pastore. They were married for 69 years until her death in 2010. 

He worked in the Pastore Contractors and Builders family business with his brothers-in-law until his retirement. He worked next for the town of Harrison Department of Public Works until December 2009, when he finally retired at the age of 87. 

He is survived by his sons Kenny (Cindy) and Kevin (Karen); and his grandchildren Bridgette, Lindsay, Caitlyn, Max and A.J. 

He also was predeceased by his daughter Barbara Ann. 

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at McMahon, Lyon & Hartnett Funeral Home, 491 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains. There will be a service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with an interment to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
