RYE, N.Y. - John F. Johnston, Jr. of Rye, formerly of Harrison, died Nov. 15. He was 86.
Johnston was born May 19, 1928, to John and Clara (Huber) Johnston, graduated from Harrison High School in 1946 and attended Cornell University. He was an engineer for the New York Telephone Company and served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
Johnston is survived by his longtime companion, Mildred (Connolly) Youngberg; brothers, Rev. Donald Johnston and the Hon. William R. Johnston; and many nephews and nieces.
Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck. Tel: 914-698-5968. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at St. Gregory the Great RC Church, followed by private committal. Interment will follow at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery.
