Leonard Spinelli, 91, Harrison Resident

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Leonard Spinelli, a long time resident of Harrison, died Saturday, Sept. 19. He was  91.

He was born in Mount Vernon on April 2, 1924, to Lorenzo and Antonia Spinelli.  

On Oct. 12, 1947, he married Nancy Sposato, at St. Gregory the Great Church.

He is survived by his wife, son Gary (Jeanette), daughter Beverly Paonessa (George) and grandchildren Lauren and Mark Paonessa and Andrew Spinelli. 

He served in World War II in the 53rd Marine/Navy Construction Battalion (SeaBees) stationed on the islands of Bougainville, Guam and Guadalcanal. 

He retired from Aero Tech.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Hospice care in Westchester and Putnam. 

Visitation is on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home, 329 Halstead Ave. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 10 a.m., at St. Gregory the Great Church.

Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich.
