Her son, the Rev. Dr. Carl E. Flemister, and daughter, Mrs. Barbara Flemister Mullen, made the announcement on behalf of five generations of surviving family members.

In her declining years, Mrs. Flemister's greeting to all was, "Thank God for life."

She resided at the Bayberry Care Center in New Rochelle, where she was a resident for 11 years. She excelled in all activities and was elected president of the residents' association for three years.

Mrs. Flemister's husband, Charles Deward Flemister; another son, Charles, Jr.; and a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Flemister, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Flemister was a devoted, super-active member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in New Rochelle for over 100 years. The Rev. Dr. Allen Paul Weaver, Pastor, and the congregation bestowed upon her the title "Mother of the Church." Mrs. Flemister was also the matriarch of the Evans - Benjamin - Flemister clan, bringing joy and comfort when needed to 5 generations of descendants. She also held a special place in her heart for two nephews, Mr. Warren Hutchins and Mr. William Perry; her foster son, Paul A. Moore; and her goddaughter, Cynthia McAdden.

A celebration of Mrs. Flemister’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22 at the Bethesda Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Weaver will officiate. The Rev. Dr. Deborah Flemister Mullen will deliver the eulogy, joined by clergy family members the Rev. Dr. L. Christi Hunter and Minister Paul A. Moore.
