HARRISON, N.Y. -- Maria Gherardi, of West Harrison, died on Monday. She was 82.
Gherardi was born on Sept. 6, 1932, to Pietro and Margherita (Gritti) Grigis in Somendenna, Italy. She was a retired seamstress with Brooks Brothers in Eastchester.
Her husband, John Gherardi, died n 2007 and she was also predeceased by a sister Angelina Grigis.
Gherardi is survived by her daughters, Roberta (Joseph) Alfredo of West Harrison, and Nadia (Frank) Drake of Thornwood; one brother, Giovanni Grigis and three sisters Piera, Savina and Elena Grigis, all in Italy.
She is also survived by four grandchildren, Christina (David) Tomaselli, Daniel Drake, Alyssa Alfredo and Joseph John Alfredo.
A wake will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at crypt side, at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Hartsdale, on Friday at 11 a.m.
