Hains was born to Ella and George Klein on Nov. 10, 1915. She lived in Harrison for 87 years until moving in 2003 to The Terrace at the Eddy Memorial in Troy. She was a longtime member and Deacon of the Harrison Presbyterian Church.
Hains is survived by her son, Stephen Hains; daughter-in-law, Susan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Friday, April 5 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau, N.Y. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m.Saturday, April 6 at the Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, N.Y.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hains's memory to the Nassau Free Library, 18 Church St., Nassau, NY 12123.
