Marion Sierzega, 88, Of Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Marion Sierzega, a longtime resident of Harrison, died Oct. 1 at the age of 88. 

She was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Floridia, Sicily, to the late Antonio and Bettina Rossitto. 

She arrived in the United States in 1929, and was raised in Port Chester.

The oldest of six children, she is survived by her brothers Vincent (Winnie), Joseph, Pat (Lucille) and Anthony.

She was predeceased by her sister Connie LeBlanc (Edward). She also leaves behind two grandsons and many nieces and nephews.

During World War II, she worked in New York City for the Censorship Department. In 1948, she married Frank Sierzega (predeceased) and in 1955, they moved to Harrison. There, she raised her five children: Frank, Robert, Doreen Grozinger (John), John (Wendy) and Carol Shahini. 

After raising her children, she worked for the A&P Food Market. She was a member of the Columbiettes and traveled with Father DiFalco, of St. Gregory's Church, to Lourdes and to Italy in 1972. This was her first of many trips to Italy and Europe. 

The Sierzega family will be receiving friends from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Harrison Funeral Home, 329 Halstead Ave.
