WEST HARRISON, N.Y. -- Robert Emmet Maher, a West Harrison resident, died Wednesday, March 4. He was 89.
He was born on Feb. 17, 1926, to the late John and Margaret Maher in Hastings-on-Hudson.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific. Robert was retired branch manager and vice president of NBW and Chase Bank in Harrison. He was past commander of James Daley VFW Post in Hastings.
Robert was predeceased by his devoted wife, Bernadine (nee Patterson) Maher in 1993. He is survived by his loving children, Damon (Deborah) Maher, Robert (Lisa Eve) Maher Jr., Christine Ellersick, Lisa Albi and Susan (Patrick) Maher.
He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Robert Patterson; and the McCarthy cousins.
A wake will be held at Hawthorne Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, from 5-9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Church, West Harrison, on Saturday, March 7, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
