Letter: Gelfarb has 'Proven Himself'

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - The following letter was sent to Harrison reporter Phil Corso detailing why Republican and Conservative candidate David Gelfarb would be a suitable county legislator for District 6. Gelfarb will run for the position in November's general election against Dan Brakewood (D).

District 6 represents Harrison, Rye Brook and Port Chester on the county Board of Legislators.

It is very rare for me to vote for a candidate versus voting against the other person. On Nov. 8 it is my pleasure to vote for David Gelfarb for county legislator and Joe Carvin for Rye Town Supervisor.

I have walked with Gelfarb in Port Chester, Harrison and Rye Brook and here is the resounding theme from voters - regardless of political party or age: "we are being taxed to death."

No other candidate has built a record of accomplishment over the last fours years in Rye Town than David Gelfarb and Joe Carvin. Consider what they have done:

- Cut the Town tax levy by 50 percent

- Reduced the Town budget by $1 million

- Increased the Town fund balance by 22 percent

- Took the lead on local government restructuring

- Eliminated lifetime benefits for part time elected officials

David Gelfarb has proven himself as being a bonafide defender of the tax payer. I trust him to work with the County Executive to continue lessening the tax burden and transform county government. He has consistently demonstrated his commitment to lower property taxes and government spending.

"Promises made, promises kept" best describes Team Carvin. They earned four more years for delivering on taxes, spending and restoring the trust of Rye Town residents. As the Receiver of Taxes candidate, Janusz Richards brings a wealth of experience and education to the role that I am sure will serve us well.

Our choice on Nov. 8 is very clear: Vote Gelfarb and Team Carvin.
