Letter: Gelfarb Has a 'Proven Record'

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - The following letter was sent to Harrison reporter Phil Corso detailing why Republican and Conservative candidate David Gelfarb would be a suitable county legislator for District 6. Gelfarb will run for the position in November's general election against Dan Brakewood (D).

I will be voting for David Gelfarb on Nov. 8 for County Legislator because he truly understands the concerns of the property tax payer and has a record to prove it.

David Gelfarb has supported fair and realistic proposals for changing the paradigm in county government. In fact his proposals have real numbers behind them. For instance, if the rest of the private sector pays about 20 percent for their health insurance, why is the CSEA leadership resistant to the change proposed by the County Executive, especially when it will save the taxpayers approximately $19 million?

Why should taxpayers pay the entire $100 million for employee health benefits? It simply is unrealistic today. Gelfarb wants to work with the union leadership on this issue to find relief for the taxpayer.

With his CSEA endorsement, it makes sense for Brakewood to be silent on the employee health benefits issue as well as his record. He has a record of increasing the Port Chester tax levy and spending by double digits and the Village debt by 47 percent, I would run from that record too!

We need a county legislator that has actually accomplished what he talks about on the campaign trail. Gelfarb has cut the Town tax levy by 50 percent and he took $1 million out of the Town budget! He and the Carvin team are already exploring ideas that could lead to the dissolution of Rye Town, or at least greater sharing of services.

I am voting for an accomplished tax cutter and true leader when it comes to reforming government. Vote for David Gelfarb on Nov. 8. I am.

Sincerely,

Jenny L. Montgomery
