Federal Fugitive Nabbed In Harrison

HARRISON, N.Y. – Vaughn Henry, 27, a fugitive wanted on federal cocaine trafficking charges, was arrested at 8 p.m. Monday by the Maple Moor Golf Course in White Plains after he ran from his vehicle, which had been pulled over on North Street in Harrison, a spokesman for the Westchester County Police said.

Spokesman Kieran O’Leary said that Henry, of the Bronx, was found to have 20 pounds of marijuana in two cardboard boxes in the trunk of his vehicle. Henry was tackled by a golfer, who asked police not to release his name, while trying to run away, O’Leary said.

Henry originally showed an Arizona driver’s license with a fake name to the arresting officer before running away, O’Leary said. A computer check of Henry’s fingerprints showed that he was wanted by the federal government on charges of distribution of cocaine in West Virginia in 2008.

Westchester County Police charged Henry with criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, and false personation and driving without a license, both misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in Harrison Town Court and is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail in Valhalla. Henry will be turned over to federal authorities when the state charges against him are resolved.
