A routine traffic stop in Rockland County led to the arrest of a Westchester resident who was allegedly drinking and driving in Nyack.

Officers from the Orangetown Police Department stopped 37-year-old Harrison resident Christopher Horgan at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13 after he committed a traffic violation on Main Street in Nyack.

During the subsequent traffic stop, officers noted an odor of an alcoholic beverage on Horgan’s breath and reported that he had bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. Horgan proceeded to consent to several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and failed them all.

Horgan was arrested at the scene and transported back to Orangetown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated. Horgan was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Nyack Justice Court on Oct. 31 to answer the charge.
