Harrison Named One Of Nation's 50 'Safest' Communities

The Harrison Police Department has made it their mission to serve and protect all residents and visitors. I commend Police Chief Anthony Marraccini, and his entire police force, for their professionalism and diligence in keeping our streets secure and out of harms way. 

The Harrison Public Library opened its Lecture Series with a presentation on “Middle East Alliances”. The next lecture will be “The Rise of ISIS.” For information and to register, call the library at 914-835-0324.

Tunnel to Towers Foundation will hold a fundraising concert Feb. 25 at the Capital Theater in Port Chester to benefit the family of West Harrison resident, Sgt. Joseph Lemm. Sgt. Lemm was killed in December by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. The concert will include performances by the Drifters, the New York Tenors, and Sgt. Lemm’s daughter, Brooke. Pastry shop Norah’s Oven Works is offering a summer program for children who interested in developing their culinary skills. Half-day camps for kids in grades 4 and up meet July 5 to Aug. 19, 9 a.m. to noon; for first and third-graders, 1 to 4 p.m. Call 914-777-1063.

Monday is a holiday so garbage and/or recycling normally collected Monday, Feb. 15, will be collected Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Lunch with the Mayor will be Friday, Feb. 19, at Silver Lake Café, 17 Taylor Square, West Harrison.
