HARRISON, N.Y. A Purchase man was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument after Harrison police said he had an improper New Jersey drivers license.
Zayn el-Hajji, 19, of 2900 Purchase St. was arrested about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4. Police said a car was pulled over for having various objects such as a flag dangling from the rearview mirror.
While approaching the car, the police officer noticed Hajji, a passenger, fumbling in his wallet in what looked like an attempt to switch places of two state drivers licenses.
When asked what he was doing, Hajji quickly stuffed the wallet underneath his right leg. After the officer asked everyone to get out of the car, he had Hajji open the wallet, and he saw driver's licenses from Hawaii and New Jersey. The New Jersey license did not have the proper hologram, and when told that, Hajji said, I know, sir I am sorry. Its a fake, according to the police report.
After being arrested, police said, Hajji told the officer he used the fake New Jersey license to get into bars and concerts where the minimum age is 21. He was charged with the class A misdemeanor and is due in court Oct. 9. The driver of the vehicle was issued a summons for having objects hanging from his rearview mirror, police said.

Public Drinking: A New Rochelle man ticketed for drinking in public at 10:42 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, police said. He was standing in front of Uncle Henrys Bar on Halstead Avenue drinking from a Budweiser bottle, and then walked across the street, where Harrison police officers stopped him. He is due in court Oct. 18.
Public Drinking: A Mahopac man was ticketed for drinking in public at 10:27 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, police said. He was stopped on Halstead Avenue, where he was attempting to conceal a shiny gold colored object that turned out to be a can of Coors Light, police said. He is due in court Oct. 18.
