Harrison Police Charge Man With Drug Possession

HARRISON, N.Y. – A 57-year-old man stopped by Harrison police for speeding in a school zone and driving through a stop sign was later charged with multiple felonies for drug possession, police said.

When Dennis R. Magnotta was pulled over on Columbus Avenue, police asked him for his driver’s license and registration, which is when the officer noticed “his hands were shaking and he appeared nervous,” police said of the Feb. 1 incident.

Magnotta was asked to get out of the car and the officer then saw “what appeared to be several packages of heroin” and four “individual packages of heroin” plus “one black plastic bag containing cocaine,” police said.

He was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony, and two counts of criminal possession of controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony.

He was transported to the Harrison Police Department Headquarters, processed and sent to the Westchester City Jail on $5,000 cash bail.
