High School Student Hospitalized After Getting Caught On Fence

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A Port Chester High School student was hospitalized Thursday morning after getting caught on a fence.

Rye Brook police and Port Chester-Rye Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to Port Chester High School on Thursday after a student got caught on a fence near the football field.

The student tried to climb a fence near the Port Chester High School football field shortly after classes began Thursday, police said.

Port Chester-Rye Emergency Medical Services and Rye Brook police responded. The student was reported to be bleeding heavily.

Rye Brook Police Chief Gregory Austin said the student sustained a leg injury. The youth was transported to Westchester Medical Center, Austin said.

Caryn Furst, a spokeswoman for Port Chester schools, said, "The student received first aid at the school and an ambulance was immediately dispatched. The family was contacted right away."
