Investigators Awaiting Toxicology Report In Death Of 6-Year-Old Croton Girl

CORTLANDT, N.Y.  -- The investigation into the death of 6-year-old Croton resident Lacey Carr is continuing.

Lucian Chalfen, a spokesman for the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, said the case remains an open and active investigation.

Chalfen said investigators are awaiting the final toxicology results which could take from a week to a month.

Lacey was found unresponsive by her father, David Carr, Sunday afternoon in her home on Hastings Avenue in Croton, according to Croton Police Sgt. John Nikitopoulos. Lacey was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow where she was pronounced dead. 

Kathleen Dymes, Lacey's mother, also was found unconscious and was taken to Phelps, where she remains in critical condition, according to Tina Dorfman, a spokeswoman for Phelps.

Police have ruled out carbon monoxide as a cause and said they still are investigating., awaiting the autopsy results. Dymes and Lacey lived at the home with Dymes' father, Kevin.

Dymes has hired Carmel attorney Christopher Maher, according to LoHud. Maher did not respond to a request for comment.
