HARRISON, N.Y. A Mamaroneck man was arrested after Harrison police officers witnessed an alleged hand-to-hand drug transaction outside a Crotona Avenue bar, according to a police report.
Michael A. Chavez, 36, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a B felony. The deal went down Saturday at 8:43 p.m. outside Jumbo's Bar, 110 Crotona Ave., the police report stated.
According to the report, after the transaction one man walked into the bar while another drove away in a Jeep. The police report said the arresting officer pulled over the vehicle at the intersection of Adelphi Avenue and Argyle Road after it didnt stop at a stop sign. The arresting officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Jeep and asked Chavez and his passenger, an 18-year old man from Mamaroneck, to step out of the vehicle.
A search of the 18-year-old turned up six clear plastic bags of marijuana and one large plastic bag containing 15 grams of marijuana, the report stated. Upon searching Chavez, the police report said, police found 12 small aluminum foil packets containing cocaine.
The 18-year-old was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
