A short white woman, who appeared to be about 40 years old, pointed the gun over the counter and demanded cash, in the noon robbery at Greenwich Bank and Trust at 1103 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich police Lt. Kraig Gray said.

The woman in the photos above is a person of interest in the armed robbery, Gray said in a Friday evening statement.

The woman is believed to be wearing white or tan boots and was last seen running east through the Sheephill Mobil Gas Station, Gray said.

If you encounter the subject, do not confront her, police said. The woman is believed to be armed, police said.

In the robbery, after the woman demanded cash, the teller complied, and the suspect left without incident with an undetermined amount of cash, Gray said.

No one was injured, and no customers were in the bank at the time of the robbery, he said.

The suspect was described as an approximately 40-year-old white woman, short and weighing about 100 pounds with dark hair in a pixie cut, and wearing sunglasses and a dark peacoat.

The FBI has been called and notified of the bank robbery.

"It is an overlapping jurisdiction. The larceny that took place is a crime both locally and federally," Gray said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, who was in the area from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday or anyone with information on the woman's identity is asked to contact Detective O’Neill at 203-622-3684 or Detective Perusse at 203-622-8039.
