Port Chester Drug Bust Leads To 20th Illegal Gun Recovered In 2014

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Port Chester police have recovered 20 illegal handguns to date this year, the latest coming Wednesday, Sept. 17, when they executed a search warrant at 1 Weber Drive. 

Frank Maxwell is charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors.

The warrant was part of an ongoing investigation by the Port Chester Police Detective Bureau and Westchester County Police Narcotics Unit. It resulted in the arrest of Frank Maxwell, a Stamford resident. 

Police said they found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, later determined to be stolen in Virginia. They also found small quantities of cocaine and marijuana, Police Chief Richard Conway said in a release.

Maxwell was charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors. 

The suspect is being held at the Port Chester jail.
