A 17-year-old boy was arrested Thursday in the fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian back on April 17 near Greenwich High, according to police.

Andrew Schmidt of Greenwich was charged after a lengthy investigation involving 39 search warrants and analyzing "a significant amount of physical evidence," police said.

Schmidt, who will be tried as an adult, was charged with evading responsibility following involvement in an accident that results in a fatality, police said. The charge carries a possible prison term of up to 10 years in prison.

Schmidt, who was released on $100,000 bond, is scheduled to appear June 2 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police said the investigation continues into the case, and additional charges are possible.

Shortly after 11 p.m. April 17, Edward Setterberg, 43, was struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking at Hillside Road and East Putnam Avenue near Greenwich High, police said.

Setterberg, a Greenwich native, ran his own home remodeling business and is survived by his wife, Michell, and two young daughters.

His body was found lying in the road, police said.

As part of the investigation, police located and seized a vehicle described earlier as a 2006 or later Mercedes-Benz ML350.

In a statement, the Greenwich Police Department "acknowledged the family and friends" of the victim for their "support and patience" as officers completed a comprehensive investigation.
