White Plains Men Arrested In Harrison On Drug Charges

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Two White Plains men were arrested in Harrison on felony drug charges after police said they found $20,000 worth of drugs in their car.

William Cabanillas, 25, and Juan Manzo, 30, were both charged with one count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a narcotic with intent to sell, one count of five grams or more of a hallucinogenic substance, two counts of possession of a narcotic substance weighing one half-ounce or more , and one count of possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell.

On the night of July 22 a Harrison police officer observed a red Acura make a right turn from a left turn only lane near entrance 9S of the Hutchinson River Parkway, according to police reports. The officer stopped the car on the entrance ramp and identified Canabillas as the driver and Manzo as the passenger, police said.

As the officer was interviewing the two, he detected an odor of marijuana and called for backup, according to police. Both men were found to be in possession of marijuana and were arrested, police said. The car was towed to Harrison police headquarters and a search was conducted.

In the trunk of the car police said they found two ounces of cocaine, 17 grams of ecstasy, 114 pills of oxycodone, 90 pills of clonazepam, 15 pills of hydrocodone, 20 grams of hashish, as well as numerous packaging bags, scales and packaging materials. The drugs had a street value of $20,000 police said.

Police said that further investigation revealed that Manzo has a possible connection to the gang Mara Salvatrucha 13, also known as MS-13. Cabanillas's bail was set at $5,000 and Manzo's bail was set at $25,000. Both men failed to make bail and were transported to Westchester County Jail and appeared in court Tuesday.
