Dennis Mamrosz, 22, a former student at the university, was charged with making third-degree terrorist threats, acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and South Orange Police Chief James Chelel announced.

Mamrosz is currently being held in the Westchester County Jail on an unrelated criminal contempt charge stemming from an incident in Yonkers. Authorities, however, said he was free last Thursday when the bomb threat was made against the New Jersey university via email.

Authorities said they plan to extradite Mamrosz to South Orange once the Yonkers charges have been resolved. He is due back in city court on June 13.

The threat, made by email around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, claimed there was a “bomb in every building,” prosecutors said. The campus was closed for several hours as police searched for possible explosives. None were found.

Prosecutors said Mamrosz was a student at Seton Hall until 2010 but did not graduate from the university. A motive for the threat has not been released.
