WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – After a lengthy and hotly contested campaign, Westchester County voters will finally make their choice for county executive known on Tuesday when polls open up for Election Day.

Incumbent County Executive Rob Astorino has faced a stiff challenge from New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson. During their heated campaigns, the candidates squared off in three debates, covering issues such as shared services, taxes and unfunded mandates.

During the campaign, Astorino has highlighted New Rochelle’s rising tax and his own administration’s progress in building affordable housing units as part of a national settlement. Bramson has highlighted his competitor’s stance on various national issues and the number of vetoes that have been issued during his time in office.

The winner of the county executive race will serve a four-year term, earning $160,760 annually.

In addition to the county executive race, there are also several contested races for seats in the county legislation.

One of the most highly contested is in District 10, where Democrat Mary Jo Jacobs is challenging incumbent Sheila Marcotte.

In District 11, Legislator James Maisano is being challenged by Stavros Pantelis and in District 7, Rye City Councilwoman Catherine Parker and John Verni are vying for a spot in the legislation.

District Attorney Janet DiFiore will retain her seat after running unopposed, Attorneys Montgomery J. Delaney and David. F. Everett are running for county court justice.

Locally, Eastchester will conduct its first contested town supervisor race in a decade, as Democrat Michael Denning is challenging incumbent Anthony Colavita, who is seeking his fifth term in office.

Four candidates are vying for two town board seats in Harrison and acting White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach is running against Cass Cibelli, a former member of the city planning board.
