Harrison Holding Two Public Hearings Thursday

HARRISON, N.Y. – Two public hearing are scheduled for Thursday’s Town/Village Board meeting in Harrison.

The first public hearing will be about peddling and soliciting door-to-door in town. The town is looking to set up a “Do Not Knock Registry” to ban people from going to certain houses to sell items. Permits, which would cost $150, are being proposed for solicitors to have before going to eligible homes while the town is looking to set the hours of peddling from 10 a.m. to sunset. Soliciting would be prohibited on Sundays and holidays.

The second public hearing deals with private residential garages and off-street parking. The town is proposing residences can lease or rent one parking space on their property to someone not living there. Residences would only be allowed to have one commercial vehicle parked on the property as well. Furthermore, only one unregistered vehicle would be allowed to be stored on one’s property.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 1 Heinemann Place.
