Harrison Police Seek Approval For Two Stop Signs

HARRISON, N.Y. – Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini will request two stop signs at West and Grove streets in the northbound and southbound lanes during Thursday night’s village board meeting.

Temporary traffic lights were used at those locations while the West Street Bridge was being repaved, which at the time eliminated one lane of traffic on the two-way road. In addition, there was a construction worker with a stop sign directing traffic. Now that the work has been completed, those traffic signals are no longer used.

Marraccini now would like to see stop signs at the West and Grove intersection.

Public Works Commissioner Anthony Robinson also will make a request at the meeting for the approval of a bid for a “six-wheel single engine broom street sweeper with belt conveyor,” the agenda states.

Drainage improvements on Pilgrim Road will be brought up by Town Engineer Michael Amodeo. He is looking for the approval of $54,800 for the work to be done. The money for the project is in the capital fund.

Woodard and Curran Engineering would be used for engineering and design services at a cost not higher than $49,400. George Mottarella’s services would be used for a topographical survey at $4,400, and Evans Associates at $1,000 for wetland consultation services.

Amodeo requested that authorization for the proposals be made by the Harrison Law Department as well.

The village board meeting takes place following the Town Board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 1 Heineman Place.
