Please beware of callers posing as Internal Revenue Service agents; they call homes and cellphone numbers claiming that back tax money is owed.
The scammers, in some cases, have the last four digits of the victim's SSN, and the IRS' toll-free number shows up on caller ID. In some cases, the target will also receive an email, purporting to be from the IRS, to further the scheme to defraud.
The caller then instructs the individual that the tax bill must be paid promptly through a prepaid debit card or wire transfer, threatening arrest or license revocation as a penalty.
The IRS emphasizes that if someone owes money, the first contact from the IRS is likely to come via mail. The IRS will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone or request a prepaid debit card or wire transfer.

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for New York Health and Wellness. It was an honor to join Westchester Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett and Westchester County Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler as we welcomed this health facility to Harrison.

Town Clerk Jackie Greer would like to remind residents that she has extended office hours to coincide with the Town-Village Board meetings. The hours are from 7-8 p.m.
All services are available, including marriage licenses (by appointment), free notary service and hunting/fishing licenses. These hours are in addition to the after-hour service available during the Planning Board meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. Con Edison’s Office of Government Relations has recently contacted my office regarding local weather-related conditions. As the company monitors the snow and rainstorms that affect our area and prepares to service any problems the weather causes, it urges customers to place safety first. Most importantly, do not touch downed wires, as they may be live.
Customers can report downed power lines, outages and check service restoration status at www.conEd.com or by calling 800-75-CONED (800-752-6633).
When reporting an outage, customers should have their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether their neighbors also have lost power.
