Harrison Town Clerk Says Extra Office Hours A Success

HARRISON, N.Y. – Harrison Town Clerk Jackie Greer said her extended office hours every fourth Tuesday have been beneficial to residents who cannot make it during the day.

“People have been showing up,” she said. “Last month, we had people renewing their commuter parking permits that were due in January. There’s no reason not to do it, because I work it myself and the building’s open.”

While her normal hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, she extends them from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every fourth Tuesday of the month, which is when the Planning Board meets. The extra hours was a promise she campaigned on and has kept.

“There’s people that are not around 9 to 5,” she said, including those who work in New York City. “I do marriage licenses for people that both work because they both have to be here. They call and schedule an appointment.”

Residents are able to renew yearly commuter parking permits, dog licenses and dog park keys, and complete other important forms.

If more people need extra hours, Greer said, she could eventually keep the office open on the second Thursday of every month, which is when the Zoning Board meets. For now, she said, there have not been any issues and “it’s fine the way it is.”

For those who cannot make it during the day and would like to meet with Greer at night in her Municipal Building office, she is available by appointment. You can reach her by calling 914-670-3030 or emailing her at jgreer@harrison-ny.gov.
