Latimer told lohud/The Journal News that it's inevitable to get parking tickets "when you travel as much as I do."

Latimer's campaign spokesman, Jon Greenfield, said, “Unlike Rob Astorino and his corrupt donors, we don’t have unlimited parking placards to throw around."

Meanwhile, Latimer was endorsed at a Sunday afternoon news conference by U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer.

Friends of Astorino spokesman Bill O’Reilly reacted: "Sen. Schumer, to his credit, sponsored an amendment in Congress to force tax deadbeat diplomats to pay their back taxes and parking tickets, yet on Sunday he will be endorsing an Albany politician who owes five years and $48,742 in back property taxes and whose car vehicle registration has been suspended since last summer for failure to pay more than $1,400 in parking tickets.

"Mr. Latimer was caught driving the car as recently as Friday -- his insurance likely invalid because of the vehicle suspension -- hours after telling a member of the news media that he wouldn’t drive it until his long accumulated tickets were paid up."

“Sen. Schumer rightly cracked down on scofflaw ambassadors, but he has no problem endorsing a fellow Democratic politician who owes Rye school children tens of thousands of dollars in back school taxes and won’t pay his parking tickets? With all due respect to Sen. Schumer, this type of blind partisan hypocrisy is exactly what voters have grown sick to death of," O'Reilly said.

Latimer told a lohud.com/Journal News editor in this story that he still did not re-register the leased 2014 Jeep immediately after paying the parking tickets because its transmission had to be fixed.

Latimer leased the vehicle from White Plains Chrysler/Jeep.

Latimer said that he paid about $600 in parking tickets and penalties to Yonkers, about $700 to White Plains and $100 to Port Chester.
