The students will serve as interns in his district office in Mount Kisco.

“I am excited for the start of the fall and spring internship seasons,” Buchwald said.

“My internship program offers an opportunity for students to make a difference in the community and be a part of an inclusive, civic-minded team," he said.

"Interns get an in-depth experience that provides an understanding of how New York State government works." he added.

"This is a wonderful program, particularly for public service-minded high school and college students who are looking to gain an understanding of state government, all while learning in a professional setting," he said.

Students with an interest in government or public policy are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interns are expected to work approximately 20 hours per week for at least eight weeks.

Although the internship is unpaid, high school or college credits may be available through an applicant’s school.

At the end of their internship, students also have an opportunity to present to the assemblyman policy proposals driven by their own interests.

Students wishing to apply are asked to send a resume, cover letter, a high school or college transcript, and a short writing sample to Alex Roithmayr, Buchwald’s deputy chief of staff at roithma@assembly.state.ny.us.

Anyone with questions is welcome to call the district office at (914)- 244-4450.
