ALBANY, N.Y. -- New York state and federal lawmakers on Monday urged caution in accepting immigrants fleeing the civil war in Syria, with some expressing concern over their settling in New York after the Paris terrorist attacks on Friday, according to Time Warner Cable News.

According to Sen. Chuck Schumer, a Democrat and the state’s senior senator, the attacks in Paris raise questions about how those seeking refugee status are checked before they enter the country, Time Warner Cable News said.
