Steve Otis Wins 91st Assembly District Seat

HARRISON, N.Y. – Democrat Steve Otis won the 91st Assembly District seat Tuesday, easily out-polling Republican opponent William Villanova.

With 81 percent of the votes counted, Otis got 19,283 votes to Villanova's 10,384, according to unofficial results from the Westchester County Board of Elections.

"I'm very excited about serving the Sound Shore community," Otis said Tuesday night. "I'm thrilled about the opportunity . There's a lot of work to do and I'm eager to do it."

Villanova said he would support Otis and "hold him to task."

The candidates were vying for the seat held by Democrat George Latimer, who ran for the state Senate.

Otis was the mayor of Rye for 12 years (1998 until 2009) and recently served served as chief of staff for retiring state Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer. He lives with his wife, Martha, in Rye.

Villanova is the deputy supervisor of the town of Rye. He lives in Port Chester with his wife, Sandra, and three children.

The 91st District covers New Rochelle, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, Port Chester and Rye Brook.
