Delfim Heusler, publisher of The Yonkers Insider News Blog and host of The Yonkers Insider Online Radio Show, is set to announce in the upcoming days that he will run for the Westchester County Board of Legislators in the 15th District.
Heusler, who ran for the same position in 2011, will challenge incumbent Gordon Burrows, a Republican, for the seat representing Yonkers and Bronxville. Heusler was scheduled to make his announcement at a press conference Monday but postponed the event due to an illness in the family.
No makeup date for the press conference has been announced.
Heusler, a registered member of the Working Families Party, said in an email that he intends to run on the Democratic, Independence, Green and Working Families Party Lines.
Referring to himself as the “The Change Agent,” Heusler said he plans to run on the platform of open and transparent government, women’s rights and affordable child care, among other things.
“Some questions that need to be asked: If you vote the same people in office due to their name recognition what will really change?” he asked in an emailed statement. “Has your life in the 15th County Legislative District gotten better due to the actions of the Westchester County Legislator Gordon Burrows? The question: Are you better off then you were two years ago?”
