LARCHMONT, N.Y. – With construction under  way on the Cambium, a $70 million luxury condominium building in Larchmont, an open house will be held this weekend in the village from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those interested in owning a unit.

The Cambium will be the first multifamily development built in Larchmont since the 1980s, according to a report by the Westchester County Business Journal.

The complex is at 10 Byron Place, a short distance from the Mamaroneck train station. It was originally land that was left undeveloped when a decade-old plan to build rental apartments fell through, the Business Journal report said.

For those interested, a Cambium sales gallery exists at 1921 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont. This weekend's open house will run Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

At seven stories, the Cambium will consist of 149 units and is expected to be completed by early 2015 or possibly late 2014, the Business Journal reported.

There are a cluster of condominium and co-op buildings nearby the site, which adjoins the Larchmont-Mamaroneck Maxwell Avenue recycling center and New York Sports Club, according to the Journal.  These buildings, and the addition of the Cambium, complete the village’s master plan for residential development, John Myers, principal of Ceres Realty Group in Katonah, told the Business Journal.

The condos run between $515,000 to $1,150,000, according to the Cambium listing on Houlihan Lawrence.
